Lead Mobile Engineer / Part-Time CTO

Lead the development of Centro's Business Planning App, which helps low-income and women entrepreneurs build their businesses and access capital.

Centro is developing a mobile toolkit that helps entrepreneurs worldwide build sustainable businesses, develop professionally, improve their credit and access microloans.

We are relaunching our mobile app using Xamarin, Azure and C#. This next version, has some exciting changes:

  • A brand new UI which takes into account feedback from entrepreneurs, microlenders, and advisors

  • Built on a new cross-platform technology (Xamarin) that will allow our resource-strapped nonprofit to more efficiently by having nearly 100% of our code shared between the iOS and Android versions of our app

  • New section to help entrepreneurs find (non-predatory) microloan options in their area that are appropriate for their needs

  • The ability to remotely chat with a business coach


  • Solve problems creatively by implementing software solutions on Xamarin (for iOS and Android), as well as web

  • Implement flows and mockups as provided by the product and design teams, while intelligently and creatively “filling in the gaps” not covered by rough prototypes

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to build the perfect product


  • Strong CS fundamentals gained through Bachelor’s degree in CS, Math or related discipline or equivalent industry experience

  • Completed personal projects that show an aptitude for engineering and product sense

  • Ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone and get things done quickly


  • Experience building Xamarin apps

  • Experience building React apps

  • Experience building ASPNET MVC web API solutions

  • Experience using a dynamic programming language in a production environment (or personal projects)

  • Experience with web application frameworks

  • Experience integrating with public or private web based APIs
